They may be small, but they have enough love to share with each other and with you! Bonded pair Sukie and Henry will whine if separated, but that doesn’t stop them from pushing the other out of the way to get some snuggles with their current foster Sara DelVillano.

Both dogs are approximately eight-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mixes who made their way to City Dogs Rescue after being abandoned by owners twice. The first time, their own gave them to neighbors, and then those neighbors left them alone in their house when they moved away. However, they have always had each other and are completely bonded, according to Sara.

As they are getting on in years, Sukie and Henry both deal with heart conditions that require a high-maintenance regime of many medications. Henry has a mitral valve issue and takes one medication at each meal. Unfortunately, Sukie has heart failure and is very bloated due to fluid retention, and she is required to take many pills throughout the day.

“They should probably be adopted to a retired person or couple or someone who works from home only,” Sara said. “The good news is that it is easy to get them to take the pills. The ones that don’t just go into their food get put in some cheese or sweet potato, and they gobble them right up.”

In general, Sukie and Henry are easygoing and eager to please, but Sara said that each of the dogs still has their own unique personality.

“Sukie takes a while to warm up to some people, but once you’ve earned her trust, she will cuddle with you and give you as many kisses as you’ll allow,” Sara said. “Henry is hilarious. He has this ridiculous under bite that is incredibly endearing and he has such silly mannerisms.”

Even though Sukie’s and Henry’s medical care can be quite time intensive, Sara said that she has loved getting to care for them.

“They are the perfect dogs to come home from work to. They meet me at the door and give kisses and want to be petted. They're just so happy to see everyone who comes to the house,” Sara said.

While Sara has gone above and beyond by caring for this special duo, we all want to see them find their forever family. They have been with us for a long time patiently waiting for their forever family to appear.

These dogs are really adorable. If there are people who are still in search of dogs whom they can take care of, Susie and Henry comes in a package! You can never have the one without the one because these dogs are partners forever. I am sure that the happiness the future owners will get from these dogs are double, that's why you guys should think if getting them would be right. But based on my personal assessment, getting them would be pretty ideal!
