Volunteer with City Dogs Rescue

City Dogs Rescue is an all volunteer organization that very much enjoys being an active part of the DC community. We regularly have adoption and fundraising activities at local bars, stores, and community festivals in Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, U Street, Adams Morgan, and other neighborhoods. In addition to helping City Dogs Rescue save dogs, we would like our volunteers to have a chance to meet new people and have a good time.

Positions Available

• Adoption Counselors: We ask adoption counselors to commit to processing one application a week. Each application takes about 10 hours and can take up to three weeks from start to finish. We will not ask you take on more than one at a time. Each application is assigned based on your availability. Apply today!
  
• Home Visits: Screen an applicant's home in your area on an as-needed basis subject to your availability. Instructions provided. Sign up below and select the "Home Visit list.
• Photographers: Photographers are always needed to take pictures of new dogs. We have fosters located throughout the metro area. Apply today! 
• Transport: If you have a car, a great way to help us is to volunteer to drive dogs from rural Virginia or the NC/VA border.  Sign up for our "Transport" email list in the box below.
  
• Event Volunteers: Serve as a dog handler or help us sell merchandise.  Sign up below. 
  
• Fundraising Events: Help us plan fundraising events, find sponsors, or get community support.  Let us know if you have a connection to a local group or business that may like to partner with us (e.g. sports team, bar, restaurant, t-shirt company, etc)? • Fosters: Foster a dog and help us save more dogs from high kill shelters. Can't foster? Email Alissa for information about becoming a foster assistant (foster@citydogsrescuedc.org).
