Dogs currently in need of foster homes

Our City Dogs Foster Program works with foster homes throughout the Washington, DC metro area, as well as parts of Maryland and Northern Virginia. Additionally, we offer convenient pickup locations even if you aren’t in DC! Most importantly, when you foster a dog with City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue, you allow us to save another animal from a high-kill shelter.

To begin, we ask fosters to commit to a minimum of two weeks; however, we prefer that they care for the pet until adoption. In most cases, our dogs are adopted within 4-6 weeks. That said, we cannot guarantee this timeline, as some dogs are adopted quickly, while others wait longer. Ultimately, there is no way to predict the exact timing. Whenever you have travel plans, we will make appropriate arrangements for the dog.

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue pays for all pre-approved vetting and provides you with a crate, “Adopt Me” vest, collar, leash, harness, youd and any other supplies you’ll need, when fostering. All you provide is a home, loving care and food (and taking your foster to vet appointments as needed). To learn more about our cat foster program, please visit our City Kitties Foster page.

Every dogs listed on this page needs a foster home, and are eligible for adoption at any time.
