Individual Volunteers
  • Available positions include:
    • City Dogs Alumni Lead: Support the City Dogs adoption team by formally closing out all dog adoptions via our animal management system, updating a variety of alumni spreadsheets, and providing administrative support during the owner surrender/return-to-rescue process. This position requires a flexible and positive in nature. Expect to contribute around 3 hours a week with a minimum commitment of 6 months. Work will be done remotely.
    • City Kitties Administrative Support: Help our CK Lead with a variety of tasks related to filing vet records, preparing intake documents, and working with veterinarians to obtain records. Position requires a flexible nature and positive attitude. Expect to contribute around 5 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months. Work done remotely. 
    • City Kitties Foster Application Processor: Assist the CK foster program by processing pre-screened applications via performing landlord, veterinarian, and personal reference checks in order to approve new fosters.  Expect to contribute around 5 hours a week with work done remotely. 
    • VetCare Administrative Support:  Seeking someone with a record of commitment to volunteer work. We need a solid and reliable person who routinely checks emails and can respond quickly in order to triage vet care requests and make necessary appointments/arrangements with adopters when needed. Positive and flexible attitude is a must. Six month commitment necessary. Expect to contribute around 5 to 7 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months. Work done remotely
    • Volunteer Support Lead: Seeking a flexible, patient, and enthusiastic individual to help organize volunteer opportunities, create a quarterly newsletter, and help in a variety of ways to build a robust volunteer community. Access to Facebook is required for this position. Expect to commit about 5 hours a week for at least six months. Work done remotely. 
    • Intake Volunteer: We are always in need of people to help with our animal intake which consists of helping to unload and outfitting the incoming shelter animals in order to hand them off to adopters and fosters. Intake occurs on Saturdays and requires in-person volunteering but at an outdoor location. During this process we strive to take all precautions to keep everyone as safe as possible during the pandemic while also continuing to save the lives of cats and dogs. Each intake takes about 2 hours and a training is required before attending.

*** Please keep in mind that City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue. At this time we do not have a facility for animals and are unable to assist with volunteer requests looking to work with animals on a daily basis.
Group Volunteers
At this time we do not have a physical shelter.  If your group would like to support our rescue efforts there are many creative ways to help. 
  • Create a t-shirt fundraiser. 
  • Host a Yappy Hour at a local bar.
  • Host a dog or car wash.
  • Help organize a 5k benefit run/walk event.
  • Symbolically adopt a dog or cat in need of extra medical care and help raise the funds needed for treatment.

Internship Opportunity - Winter Semester
​Communications Intern: If you are a college or graduate student who has a passion for animal rescue and is looking to build your portfolio apply for our part-time internship. The position is unpaid, but we are able to work with you for college credit or volunteer hours requirements. Learn more
