CDCK VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Volunteering at City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is rewarding! Join the team!
As an almost completely volunteer-powered rescue,  our volunteers are essential in saving the lives of cats and dogs.
Please review the positions below and then submit our
Volunteer Interest Form
  • Animal Transporter: We are looking for individuals with their own car and a flexible schedule to help transport animals during weekday hours to vet appointments for their spay/neuter and other surgeries. Many of these appointments are outside the city where we are able to get discounted vet care in order to help as many animals as possible. Apply here.
  • Social Media Volunteer: We are looking for members to join our social media team. This team creates posts for adoptable animals, upcoming events, fundraisers, cute adoption stories and more! We are requesting these volunteers commit to creating a couple of posts per week, accounting for approximately 1-2 hours. Please let us know if you prefer dogs or cats. Apply here.
  • Cat Application Counselor: We are looking for new application counselors to correspond with prospective cat adopters and fosters; check personal, landlord, and vet references; as well as conduct virtual home visits. This is done fully remote and requires 1-3 hours per week. We ask for at least a 6 month commitment. Apply here.
  • Dog Application Counselor: This position allows the rescue to ensure that we are find the best match for both family and dog while helping to prepare an adopter for what to expect and to oversee a dog’s transition into their new home. We are looking for volunteers who will correspond with prospective dog adopters and fosters; check personal, landlord, and vet references; conduct virtual home visits. Skills preferred include attention to detail, ability to respond to emails in a timely fashion, and strong people skills. The position requires a 6 month commitment and 1-2 hours of your time a week. Work done remotely! Apply here.
  • Administrative Support: Help our City Dogs and City Kitties teams with a variety of administrative tasks and record keeping to keep our organization going! Examples of tasks are filing vet records, preparing intake documents, and working with vets and fosters to set up appointments. Position requires a flexible nature and positive attitude. Expect to contribute around 2-3 per week with a preference towards volunteers who are available to answer emails during most work days. All work done remotely! Apply here.
  • Volunteer Support: Seeking a flexible, patient, and enthusiastic individual to help organize volunteer opportunities, create a quarterly newsletter, and help in a variety of ways to build a robust volunteer community. Access to Facebook is required for this position. Expect to commit about 3 hours a week for at least six months. Work done remotely. Apply here.
  • Cat Profile Writers: Love cats and creative writing? We are looking for volunteers to write engaging descriptions of adoptable cats based on a form filled out by the cat's foster. These descriptions will be posted to our website and Facebook and are critical in getting kitties adopted. The commitment required is a couple of hours per month. Apply here.
  • Fundraising Committee Member: The CDCK Fundraising Committee is growing! This working committee meets every three or four weeks, strategizes about how to raise funds to support the rescue's operations and critically important work, and undertakes initiatives (e.g., events, fundraisers) to support the strategy. Whether you're a seasoned fundraiser or someone who isn't but has ideas and energy, we'd love you to join us in raising funds to save more lives.  Apply here.
  • Intake Volunteer (Dogs): We are always in need of people to help with our animal intake which consists of helping to unload and outfitting the incoming shelter animals in order to hand them off to adopters and fosters. Intake occurs on Saturdays and requires in-person volunteering but at an outdoor location. During this process we strive to take all precautions to keep everyone as safe as possible during the pandemic while also continuing to save the lives of cats and dogs. Each intake takes about 2 hours and a training is required before attending. If you are 16 years or younger, you must have a parent or guardian volunteer with you. Apply here.
  • Photographer: We need volunteer photographers who are able to attend weekend animal intakes and adoption events. The photos we post of our dogs and cats are critical to getting them adopted, and we need your help! Photographers must provide their own cameras. Apply here.
